1800mattress.com plans big Washington expansion
Just a month after big local bed retailer Mattress Discounters filed for bankruptcy protection, New Jersey mattress company 1800mattress.com has announced major expansion plans.
1800mattress.com, which currently has three stores and a warehouse in the region, says it expects to expand to 40 retail locations in the District and the suburbs. Ken Mazda, founder of Nationwide Discount Sleep Centers, has been hired as vice president of business development to oversee the expansion, the company said.
Mazda sold Nationwide, the largest Philadelphia-area mattress retailer, in 1999. . . . more
