US retailers are stepping up patrols by armed security guards and transferring merchandise to secure locations as widespread civil unrest hinders their recovery from the coronavirus shutdown.
Chains that were just starting to reopen have had to pull shutters back down after looters smashed storefronts across the country and made away with mobile phones, jewelery, clothing, computers and even furniture.
