Retailers to push for 5% sales tax, permanent tax holiday

Image result for sales tax reductionThe state’s top retailer lobbying group has decided to move forward with a ballot proposal that would cut the sales tax from 6.25 percent to 5 percent and reserve one weekend a year for tax-free sales in Massachusetts.

The Retailers Association of Massachusetts had previously indicated that it would pursue putting a proposal on the November 2018 ballot, but was not yet sure whether it wanted to aim for a new sales tax of 5 percent or 4.5 percent.. . . more
