Suffolk Superior Court ruled Wednesday that a big box liquor store can legally sell booze for cut-rate costs despite a law setting limits on how cheaply alcoholic beverages can be priced.
Total Wine & More, based in Maryland, was accused in January by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission after it received complaints that the chain was selling alcoholic beverages below invoiced costs. State law prohibits retailers from selling alcohol for less than the invoiced cost, in order to prevent monopolies in the liquor market and dissuade retailers from predatory practices that could put competitors out of business.. . . more
