Target Corp. cut its core employee count by 18,000 people in a 12-month period that ended in January, according to data from its annual 10-K reports to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Target blamed the drop on CVS taking over its pharmacies and related workers, but the reduction continued a years-long trend.
The most recent filing said Target had 323,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees near the end of January 2017. During its busy holiday shopping season, employment levels peaked at 373,000 team members. A year before that, Target had 341,000 employees, 390,000 employees during peak holiday shopping.. . . more
