Retail group warns of lawsuits against Baker online sales tax

Image result for sales taxA national trade group for e-commerce sites blasted the Baker administration’s decision to impose a sales tax against out-of-state online retailers, saying the state is “inviting lawsuits” from the industry.

The administration floated the idea for the tax in January as part of a plan to close a budget gap, and this week the Department of Revenue followed through with a detailed directive: Beginning in July, the state will collect sales taxes from online retailers if they have more than $500,000 in sales and at least 100 transactions in Massachusetts each year.. . . more
