Here’s the first glimpse at the future of Southie’s Boston Edison plant

HRP 776 Summer Street LLC, a joint venture of Redgate Real Estate and Hilco Redevelopment Partners, on April 24 filed a letter of intent with the Boston Planning & Development Agency outlining their redevelopment plans for the former Boston Edison power plant at 776 Summer St. in South Boston.After a uniquely robust pre-file public discussion period, the development team behind South Boston’s Edison Power plant revitalization has officially filed documentation with the city of Boston kicking off the project’s development review.

The letter of intent, filed Monday with the Boston Planning & Development Agency, proposes partial demolition and re-use of the existing power plant and building eight new structures over the next 10 to 15 years. All told, the project would span a combined 2.1 million square feet of residential, office, hotel, retail, restaurant and other commercial uses, along with parking, project manager Ralph Cox of Redgate Real Estate wrote in the letter.. . . more
