The ground is shifting under the feet of the state’s two marquee casinos under development, as Wynn Boston Harbor has scaled back its ambitions for retail at the Everett gambling complex and an alliance of Connecticut tribes inked a plan to build a parlor north of Hartford to compete with MGM Springfield.
Wynn Resorts said it cut 10 retail
spots from its planned mega-casino in Everett, lopping off 83 percent of
its square footage for shopping after it struggled to convince
high-fashion luxury brands to cut and run from leases in Boston and set
up shop across the Mystic River, company officials told the Gaming
Commission yesterday.. . . more
