High-end department store Neiman Marcus dropped plans for an initial public offering Friday, capping off a week of apparent defeat for retailers high and low. Macy’s announced lower-than-expected holiday sales, complete with layoffs; Sears, facing similar trouble, said it would close 150 stores and sell off its Craftsman brand.. . . more
