Wegmans Food Markets Inc. said today for the first time that it's “unlikely” have its first urban store open as part of the first wave of development at the Landmark Center in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood.
The Business Journal reported last year that the Rochester, New York-based grocery chain was committed to a 75,000-square-foot location in the “food hall” of the historic Landmark Center, where developer Samuels & Associates had planned a $500 million renovation and expansion project. But today, Jo Natale, a Wegmans spokesperson, said that Wegmans and Samuels have not signed a lease for the space and it is "unlikely that a Wegmans store will be included in the first phase of the project.”. . . more
