Developers planning ‘live-work-play’ concept at Southie’s Boston Edison plant

Image result for Boston Edison power plantThe former Boston Edison power plant, a sprawling pink and red-brick behemoth that has long been a South Boston landmark, could be transformed into a “live-work-play” mixed-use project with “a broad mix of adaptive re-use and new development.”

An affiliate of Hilco Redevelopment, the real estate arm of Northbrook, Illinois-based financial services holding company Hilco Global, paid $24.25 million this April to acquire the site from energy company Exelon Corp. Redgate is expected to take the lead on the site’s redevelopment.. . . more
