Planned Supercenter in North Adams, MA clears hurdle

A 160,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter planned for the city's former gravel bank on Curran Highway cleared its first major hurdle Monday night, receiving unanimous approval from the city's Planning Board.

The project, which includes a grocery store, pharmacy, general merchandise and seasonal garden center, still needs to receive approval from the city's Conservation Commission and go through the rigorous Massachusetts Environmental Protection Act (MEPA) report process required by the state. . . . more
